Cambodia 2013... What is this all about ?
I always thought that life was a great adventure that has to be dealt with one emotion at the time. In June 2009 I met 2 very special individuals that came to Mont Tremblant to run our crazy 58km Ultra Trail run: Nathalie Samson and Jeff Dean.
Through a few emails and conversations we shared the fact that we are fortunate to have easy access to clean and drinkable water. In some part of the world this is not always the case.
Nathalie and Jeff are heading to Cambodia in January 2010 on a 250 km journey that they will run from one village to another. The idea is to provide clean and drinkable water to villages between Siem Reap(Phnom Penh) and Preah Viheard .The first step will be to bring with them small Katadyn water filter systems. Their hopes are to eventually create local infrastructures within each village, where the residents can rely on permanent water by either drilling wells, collecting rainwater or other water gathering technique.
In order to raise money for the cause, Nathalie and Jeff have created a Foundation called
“One filter, one family ” www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/One-Filter-One-Family.
The Ultimate Xc and Quebec’s largest off-road race series Courses en foret will give a one dollar donation to the foundation for each registration to these races. We will also modify our registration form in 2010 which will then have an option for racers interested in contributing to this wonderful project. The form will allow you to donate directly as you register.
In addition to donating one dollar per registration, there is a 100 miles Mountain Bike ride scheduled for January 23rd and 24th 2010. The ride will take place on either snowmobile trails or ATV trails. The cost of participation will be $150 per rider. This, I hope, will grow to be a brilliant and prosperous fundraiser for our cause. If you are interested in this bike ride; drop us an e mail at

Imagine living in part of the world where water is not readily available. As Nathalie and Jeff will struggle to push through their 250km journey in Cambodia January 2010 while we will struggle to survive on our 100 mile route on frozen water. Both working simultaneously for the same cause; providing water to less fortunate people who live in conditions we cannot even imagine.
Looking towards the future of the communion between One filter, One Family Foundation and our races, we are planning on taking a group of athletes in 2013 along the same route that Nathalie and Jeff are taking their journey on now, exploring and developing the trail. This way we will be able to see concrete results and the direct impact that our efforts to raised money for our cause have made. How cool is that?
Life is a great adventure that we are living every moment of. Nathalie, Jeff and I believe that we can change the world one emotion at the time
Thank you for considering to contribute to the cause
