50KM, 20 miler and a 10 miler

Internationally known for its Mountain biking, we will now take you on this spectacular terrain on foot.  The land of the surreal and home of canyons. The Ultimate XC series has build a reputation for creating courses that are unique, diversified and beautifull. Believe me we will not fail you on this one. 

Danelle Ballengee; world class athlete, will be the course setter for our first  Offroad 50km, 20 miler and 10 miler in the Moab desert. The secenery will be spectacular. We will take you where very few people have ever been before.  

COURSE DESCRIPTION 

10-Miler Starting at the Pritchett Canyon entrance, participants will proceed up Pritchett Canyon Jeep Road (5.5 miles) connecting to Hunter Canyon Rim jeep road (2 miles), proceeding along the Hunter Canyon rim single-track and down to Kane Creek Road (1.3 miles).  Participants will follow the Kane Creek drainage along old cattle trails back to the finish at the Jackson Trail Parking Lot.

 

20-Miler: Starting at the Pritchett Canyon entrance, participants will proceed up Pritchett Canyon Jeep Road (5.5 miles) connecting to Hunter Canyon Rim jeep road (2 miles), proceeding along the Hunter Canyon rim single-track and down to Kane Creek Road (1.3 miles).  Participants will follow the Kane Creek drainage along old cattle trails heading generally north where they will connect to the Amasa Back jeep road (1 mile).  Continuing up Amasa Back (2.7) and connecting to the Jackson Trail single-track proceeding down the trail to Kane Creek Road (1.8 miles) and alongside the road* to where Mill Creek enters into the Colorado River (2.7 to 3.4 miles).  Then will continue up the Mill Creek drainage for .5 miles, exit the drainage and run/walk along the Mill Creek Parkway up to 400 East (1.3 miles), head north on 400 east for .1 miles to finish at Milt’s Stop & Eat. 

 

50KM: Will start and follow the 10 mile course up until Kane Creek Road.  They will then head south on Kane Creek Road to the Hunter Canyon trail.  They will head 1 mile up the canyon and turn around and come back out.  They will then continue south on Kane Creek, head up the “Scorched Earth Wall” jeep road toward Hurrah Pass, continuing generally north on the road and trail leading toward Amasa back road.  They will then merge (turning left) onto Amasa Back Road and follow the 19 miler course to the finish, with the exception of an additional 1.2 mile trip up Moab Rim to the overlook and back down, then continuing to the finish. 

 

The cut-off at Hunter Rim trailhead and Kane Creek Road will be 1:30 pm. 

The cut-off at Moab Rim Trailhead will be 4 pm.

All participants must finish by 5:30pm

 

Check In: Race bib and envelope pick-up is on Friday, November 14th , between 7pm and 9.00 Pm  and Saturday morning  the 15th between  6.30 am and 7.00 am  

Race Meeting: 7.30 am Milt's Stop & Eat.

ALL RACERS MUST ATTEND RACE MEETING  

Race start: 8am for the 50Km, 9/00 am for the 20 miler and 10.00 am for the 10 Miler. 

Transport to Start: 50Km and 20-miler participants will park at the finish at Milt’s Stop & Eat (overflow parking at the High School) and take shuttles to the Pritchett Canyon start at the big Jackson Trail Parking Lot.  10-miler participants will park at the start finish.

Aid stations:

                      1. Jackson Trail Parking Lot (start/11-miler finish)

                      2. Pritchett Canyon and Hunter Rim Road intersection

                      3. Hunter Canyon Rim Trailhead (at campground by Kane Creek Road)

                      4. Hunter Canyon entrance/trailhead parking lot

                      5. Amasa Back Road at overlook

                      6. Moab Rim Trailhead

                      7. Finish at Milt’s Stop & Eat

 

Feed/Aid Stations will be equipped with water, sports drink, energy gels and bars, fruit and crackers, cups, trash bags, at least two volunteers, and first-aid equipment and personnel and/or search and rescue team member.

Spectators: a Map of the course will be available for spectators

Awards: Awards will be at 4:30pm at Milt’s Stop & Eat

             Medals will be given to all finishers. Top 3 male and female in each races and each classes.

              We will have an open class and a Master class

Fee includes  CoolMaxT-shirt for all participants at the 50km and the 20 miler registred by October 1st aid station water, energy food and drink, post-race meal. Medals to all 50km runners and 20 milers. Top 3 positions of the 10 milers will also get a medal

Registration on Active.com: 50kM ,20 MIler and the 10 Miler Registration will open January 1st 2008
Total participants, 450. We will allocate 150 spot for the 10 Miler 150 for the 20 Miler and finally an additional 150 for the 50Km

We will have no waiting list and no registration will be accepted after November 1st, 2008.

Refund policy: No refund or transfer either between racers or from one year to the next will be possible after registration.

Lost and Found: It will be your responsibility to pick up any items since we will not have a volunteer to coordinate this. Any item left behind will NOT BE SHIPPED BACK.

Parking: There is very limited parking  in the area. We will have specific parking locations. Please respect the signage.

Toilet: Use Portta Pottie. Please do not water the lawns.
